Is Turquoise the Hot Hue of the Cool Blues?

In a home fashion article on iVillage.com for 2010 color trend predictions, turquoise was rated the hot new color for home decor, paint and accents. This vivacious color has multiple shades that compliment warm as well as cool colors. What a great way to change up your decor a bit and add some turquoise accessories, funky throw pillows, or paint on an accent wall. Along with this hot hue of blue, it is said that blue in general is making a huge comeback. So, don't throw away that blue danube china your grandmother gave you! From home to fashion; cloudy slates to bold colbalts are making a statement. Not to mention navy is the more serious side of black.

2010 Tropical Florida Bridal Fair

Studio 6XI was the co-sponsor along with Creative Events and Rentals at the 2010 Tropical Florida Bridal Fair at the Edison Ford Winter Estates. Our reception design was a play on vintage elegance, with a modern twist. The Edison Ford Winter Estates displays a beautiful grounds with gardens, Edison and Ford's original homes, towering palms and twisted fig trees. A perfect setting for a modern bride with a vintage flare. We thank all of the vendors for their participation of our design, including Libby's Flowers for the floral arrangements, Connie Duglin for the colorful linens, Mason's Bakery for the cake design, and Creative Events & Rentals for the beautifully draped tent filled with gold chiavari chairs and tables. This Event was a wonderful success bringing in over 100 brides!

Bridal Show April 2009

We presented our tablescape at the Enchanted Dreams VI Bridal show held at the Crowne Plaza Grand Ballroom this past sunday. It turned out great! Racheal and I met and chatted with many different brides. We went with a modern tropical design in tangerine, fuschia and apple green. We wanted to incorporate a lush natural look with some modern elements. All of the coordinating stationery was designed by our very own Racheal Schoof (Genius Graphic Artist). I especially loved her menu design. We hung name cards from ribbons on the parasol to add a touch of whimsy. We also displayed our custom designed ring pillow, custom clutch, and custom handpainted glasses. Out fabulous cake was made by Allison and Jessica of Simply Cakes and Favors. They are awesome to work with and their cakes are so yummy.

Kravet Luncheon

Today I met my friends Teresa and Charlotte at the IDC (International Design Center). We attended the Kravet "How to Get Published" seminar presented by Carolyn Sollis, former Style Director of House & Garden magazine, Executive Editor of House Beautiful. It was such a great presentation. Carolyn provided so many tips for Designers from proper marketing ideas to providing a cohesive image as a successful Designer. She explained the importance of "Brand Identity". Studio 6XI definitely seconds that motion! She also provided tips for submitting projects to different design publications. After the presentation Kravet provided a delicious lunch in their fabulous showroom. It consisted of a yummy shrimp scampi, Mediterranean chicken, rice pilaf, bruschetta topped with cheese and diced tomatoes, fresh vegetable platter and fruit kabobs. Finished off with a fresh mimosa. Mmm it was delish! We had a chance to look at the gorgeous fabrics in the showroom and mingle with other local designers. Kravet even provided us with these great bags filled with goodies. Kravet knows marketing! It was a such a lovely afternoon.
